If you are on the my library tab and select iCloud do you see your books? If not, go to the more tab, settings, and sign in to your account. I deleted the app and re-downloaded the app and it kept most of my settings, but no books on the device. If you are on the my library tab, and have device selected, and find no titles, then no, they are not on your device.
