Richard and Wren, These steps are correct except that in most versions of Windows by default the file extensions are hidden and you will first have to go to the Tools menu once you are in Windows Explorer, select "Folder Options", then Control+Tab to the "View" page/tab. Here you tab into the treeview of options which should have about 18 items in it and find item 8 which says "Hide extensions for known file types". If this is set to "On" you have to toggle it to "Off" by pressing the spacebar, then tab to OK and activate it. Now F2 will display the file extension and you can edit it.
If you simply add "m4r" when the extension is hidden it will remain an M4A file and, if the file is called "Hello" it will simply say "Hello.M4R" but the m4r will be part of the file name and if you unhide the extension it would actually say "Hello.m4r.M4A". Open Windows Explorer, and navigate to the folder with the M4 a file you want to rename. Make sure it is selected, but do not open it. The easiest way to select it is to down arrow to it or if it is the first file in the folder, down arrow off it and up arrow back to it. Then, press F2 and change the extension from M4A to M4R. Hit enter and you are done.
