Thanks, I’m checking it out now. Have you by any chance used it? One of the
things I didn’t like about the Legend was that I felt there was too much trevel
in the audio. Having to hear Voiceover all deep and fuzzy got annoying, but I
also felt that it interfered with my ability to hear people on calls. The one
thing about the Legend I actually liked was that despite its rather large size,
I found it to be over all comfortable. Not even the boom mic bothered me. It
probably got on my wife’s nerves more than me having to see that stick all
along my cheek. The M50 had a flatter sound which made it a bit better to hear
people when I had to raise the volume. The M55 also has some of this deep
trevel stuff. The Legend’s super short magnetic charging cable was a major pain
too.

Perhaps you should try the Voyager Edge. It is the latest offering from
Plantronics.

Subject: Bluetooth earpiece for iPhone

Hello list,

So my trusty Plantronics M50 gave up the ghost a few days back and I am in the
process of looking for a replacement. As much as I liked it, I am trying to
find something with a little better call quality.

I use the bluetooth earpiece for business calls and call quality/noise
canceling is very important.

I’ve tried out the Plantronics Voyager Legend and just wasn’t convinced. Not
with the $80.00 price tag or with the call/sound quality. I returned that to
Amazon (thank goodness for hassle free returns) and am now putting the
Plantronics M55 through its paces and am so far equally unconvinced. Maybe I
just had the bad luck of getting a crappy unit, but the audio is choppy and
cuts out and that whole hands free answer/ignore is proven to be flakey. That
and unlike the M50, the caller ID/ringer doesn’t go through the earpiece. I
recall a few weeks back a fellow list member described his experience with
first getting a buggy M55 and how good Amazon was about swapping it out for
them. So who knows maybe I got a crappy unit as well or perhaps it speaks to a
general quality issue with the model.

Mainly, I am looking for an earpiece with a power switch and not a button where
one has to press for a few seconds to connect. This is why I’ve tried out the
Plantronics models as I know they have this switch. I have the earpiece in all
day and I would prefer to just be able to flick it on and then answer a call.

Can anybody recommend any other bluetooht earpieces that have solid noise
canceling abilities and use a power switch and not a button? I’m not lookig for
cheap and don’t’ mind paying a good price for something that will be worth it.
Like I said, the Voyager legend just wasn’t doing it for me. I’m not interested
in a stereo option since I prefer to have at least one ear free for general
hearing both at home and when I’m out and about for situational awareness.

Thankks

Cristobal
