Have you contacted Netflix to ask what may cause this? I have a 35 Mbps down connection and second gen Apple TV and even long movies usually start playing within 10 seconds. I doubt it matters if you have a 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps connection, after all, the stream is only that large. Of course if you have 3 other people on your WiFi streaming stuff it would make a difference. If you have your Apple TV connected via WiFi then not only the speed and quality of your internet connection would make a difference but also the quality of your WiFi. I used to have an issue at my business where even playing a video on one of my computers via WiFi would pause and buffer all the time. I replaced my router, bought a separate high-end access point all without any improvements. Then I thought I should illuminate any potential interference and as soon as I unplugged a Creative wireless soundcard which was sitting within a couple of feet of my wireless router the problem totally and completely went away.
