Yes, you can open an attachment from an email right into word. If you do not have hints turned on, then you will probably need to do this. It can be a little tricky, but if you listen to voice over and the hints, then it is not a problem.
1, Open the email with the attachment. 2, Touch near the bottom of the screen until you find your attachment. 3, Now, you should hear, tap to download, views the attachment. The key is if you hear tap to download, then you must first double tap the file to download it. 4, Now if you swipe right and back to your file, you should hear, views the attachment. 5, If you just hear views the attachment, then double tapping it will just open it in a viewing screen, which this is what has been happening. But if you double tap and hold, then you will get a pop up window which will have many choices, one of which will be open in word. I hope this helps.
