IMHO, I think this is off topic for this list. There are plenty of
sources for Windows users to get information on Windows 10. We don't
need to add traffic to a high traffic list with generic Windows
discussions that don't relate directly to using your iPhone or iTunes.
I'm not the moderator either, but I think with a high traffic list like
this, we can all use our judgment to keep traffic on topic and make
things easier for the moderators.

Hi Mark,
I agree that there are relative topics regarding Windows 10 and iTunes and iOS devices,
but the "delivery optimization" I don't think has any impact whatsoever on the
use of iTunes with Windows since it strictly relates to how Windows updates and Windows
apps are delivered to your PC. At least that is my understanding.

to Disable Windows 10 Update Delivery Optimization
Hello Robin, et al,
Of course, I am not the moderator of this list and I can only speak for myself.
Having said that, a lot of us iOS users sync our devices with iTunes for
Windows. Some of us, including me, manage our photos, contacts, calendar
appointments, etc via a Windows PC.
Windows 10 is a major step forward for both Microsoft and those of us who
choose to use iTunes for Windows. As with any new OS, there are some
unexpected and/or unintended consequences to adopting the new OS by itself or
in conjunction with an Apple device.
Having said all of this, I would ask that you consider that we blind or low
vision iTunes Windows users are kind of in an iTunes limbo in terms of finding
accurate and timely support for our iOS devices. Keep in mind, that just as on
the Mac, iTunes does not stand alone; it must function within an operating
system environment. To that extent, and no further, I think it's important to
share critical OS information about what many consider security/privacy holes
that one can expect and/or correct when using iTunes for Windows. This is the
reason why I posted the original article in this thread.
However, I hope you will notice that I did not answer Theresa's question as to
what kind of files are being shared, on-list, as my primary purpose in posting
to the list was to make iTunes for Windows 10 users aware of the hidden WiFi
sharing feature, only.
Thank you for understanding and I hope this answers your question.
Mark

Hi,
while an interesting read I'm still not sure how on earth this in any way
pertains to use of my iDevice.
Thanks for clarifying.

What sort of files is it uploading and sharing with others?

Disable Windows 10 Update Delivery Optimization
Hello My Fellow Windows Users,
You know, I am becoming less and less enthusiastic about Windows 10 as it does
so many things, in terms of sharing our information, and now, it seems, even
our band-width without our expressed permission.
Please read the following, carefully, to discover how to disable this, in my
opinion, very unwelcomed feature.
You know, this is almost enough to make me consider making my beloved Mac my
primary iOS synchronization computer (smile).

How to Disable Windows 10 Update Delivery Optimization (WUDO)
By default, Windows 10 is using your bandwidth by way of a new 'feature'
called Windows Update Delivery Optimization (WUDO). In a nutshell, Windows
10 is uploading files in the background to other Windows 10 users. This brief
guide will explain how to disable the Windows Update Delivery Optimization
service.
1.
Click the Windows 10 "Start Button" and select Settings
2.
Select Update & security from the Settings menu.
3.
Click Advanced options
4.
Click Choose how updates are delivered
5.
Finally, toggle Updates from more than one place to Off
6.
All done!
