Hi, In the current version of MapQuest, make sure it is using your location.
Then, put in your destination address in what it seems to call B. Double tap on Get Directions. Now, don’t double tap on start navigation. If you have more than one route possible, you should find them labeled as route 1, route 2, etc. Double tap on route 1 and it should say selected. Then, flick right to the list button and double tap and it too should now say selected. Then, flick right beyond the information about traffic and you should find the list of directions. After checking that out, just go back to the upper part of the screen and select route 2 and so on. Once you find the route you want, then double tap on start navigation. It is unfortunate that MapQuest won’t let third party apps like BlindSquare launch it or it could become an option for turn by turn routes from within BlindSquare. For the most part, I prefer MapQuest over Google or Apple Maps. I hope that helps, Richard From: "Brent Harding" <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> > Date: August 9, 2015 at 2:51:52 PM PDT To: <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> > Subject: mapquest app and getting more information from it Reply-To: [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> Hi there! I found that Seeing Eye doesn't always give me enough information about the route I'm trying to do, or gives me a route to go the wrong way on a 1-way street, or to use that street at a location it doesn't go through. I just tried downloading Mapquest to see what routes are possible to go to a location where my ATM access would be free. I don't want to pay $4 at the other place I found. When I put in the address of where I want to go, and it makes up a route, I hit the list button so I can read all the directions. How do I get the other routes I can use? I tried their website, and I can't figure out how to get it to switch to walking directions, and highways just don't work when you're blind. I've always been shown routes I needed to know by whatever O&M instructor I had, but my VR counselor expects me to be able to take the bus anywhere it goes in town without the instructor's help. I can't seem to get the transit person to stay on the phone long enough and explain all the rest of the directions, as they want me to do, and holding up the bus once we arrive to try getting it from the driver is bad. Is there a better site or app I could use to figure out alternate routes, and to know exactly what streets I would be crossing when it says "Go 0.3 miles on Pine Street and turn left on Adams" if I don't already know them. -- The following information is important for all members of the viphone list.
