Do you need a certain microphone or whatever to do it; I am just wanting to add
my voice to prerecorded music if possible.

I personally like Gigdaddy as a multi-track recording app on the iPhone.
It is VoiceOver accessible and you can record one track, then listen to that
while you record a second track, then a third and a fourth, then you can mix
that down to a stereo recording, and if you want to get extra complicated, make
that track 1 and add three more, etc.
It costs $2.99.

So what exactly is this; is it something you can use to record your own music?
Will it let you take an instrumental track and record your own singing with
it?
If not, does someone know something that will do that?

  Hi Neville.

I'm copying Steve's mailing list on this in case he wants to chime in.

Yes I'm using Steve's HSC set with Melodyne Single Track, which is a less
feature rich version of their program. It won't do polyphonic material like
Melodyne Editor will. But, if you want to do pitch and timing correction on
single vocal tracks, it's very very transparent. To my ear at least, you can't
tell things have been corrected, unlike Autotune.

It's a stand-alone program so as far as I know, there isn't a way to use it
while listening to your entire mix, with the vocal in context, at least if
you're using the 64-bit version. I'm guessing you could rewire Sonar 32-bit and
Melodyne Single Track 32-bit together and accomplish this, but I haven't tried
it. Steve, is this possible? Still, if you know what key the song is in and
have a decent ear, you should be fine.

    Hi Chris,
Are you using Melodyne with the HSC set that Steve created for it? what is
the learning curve for melodyne and the HSC set?

don't know about Nectar. For vocals here, I'm using regular EQ and
compression that come with Sonar here, Sound Forge for more sergical editing,
and Melodyne Single Track (Stand-alone) for pitch correction. Patrick and Derek
on the Midimag list are both using RX4 for restoration work. They'd be the
people to talk to.

    Hi Phil

Thanks for your honest response. Well, never say never, but after reading
this I doubt a bit that this is something I'll master, at least not in the near
future. I'm still a beginner after all. So I think, I'll pass these hot deals,
at least for now.
Can you tell me/us perhaps about the Nectar 2 Production Suite and RX 4
from Izotope, please? Treating Vocals and fixing audio is something that would
interest me. So I'm wondering if these two tools are accessible.

    Thanks and kind regards
    Ben
