That is correct, you can sync from iTunes to an iOS device but not vice versa. How did all your music get to your Nano in the first place? Wouldn’t you have it elsewhere and at one point synced it to your Nano?

Seems like it had something to do with the media on the device being controlled by iTunes on the computer but I could have that wrong.
