Hi Alan, Other than using the lightning I got when I initially got my Idevices, I've always used the Amazon Basics kind. I think they are made sturdier. I found that the Apple cables tend to get damaged easier near the connectors. I've had two Ipods, and an Iphone 5 and now an Iphone 6. In Christ, Lisa
