Mary,

I have no idea about the quality of this item but I found it on Amazon after
doing a Google search:

EasyAcc° iChoc 5000mAh External Battery Pack Ultra Slim Power Bank with
Built-in Lightning Cable Flashlight Portable Charger for iPhone - Matte
Black. Sale:$23.99.

Here's the Amazon link followed by its description:

p/B00MWRNMEK

Convenient - Built-in Apple 8-pin Lightning connector allows you to
charge your iPhone with Lightning dock whenever you need it. Never worry
about not having any suitable cables around again.
Powerful - 5000 mAh capacity can fully charge an iPhone 6 twice, while
the dual output can charge two smartphones (iPhone + Android phone) at full
speed simultaneously.
Super thin - A thickness of only 0.43 inches makes the iChoc one of the
thinnest powerbanks in the world, letting you talk on your phone while
charging it by holding both up to your ear.
Versatile - Includes a flashlight for convenience in the dark.
Fast - Charges quickly with a max input of 2A, saving up to half the
charging time when compared to powerbanks with 1A input.

Personally, I'd still recommend getting a 4 inch lightning cable like the
following:

AmazonBasics Apple Certified Lightning to USB Cable - 4-Inches (10
Centimeters) - Black
by AmazonBasics. List Price: $12.99. Price: $7.49.

Here's its link:

Here's a TinyURL link to the cable:

You could simply leave the 4 inch cable plugged into whatever external
battery you decided to purchase. And speaking of such, I would recommend
this model by Anker which I've been very pleased with:

Anker Astro E1 5200mAh Ultra Compact Portable Charger External Battery Power
Bank with PowerIQ Technology for iPhone 6 Plus 5S 5C 5 4S, iPad Mini,
Samsung Galaxy S6 S5 S4 Note, Nexus, HTC, Motorola, Nokia, PS Vita, Gopro,
more Phones and Tablets (Black)
by Anker. Price: $49.99. Sale: $15.99.

So for an investment of $23.48, you'd have a very good Anker 5200 mAh
external battery and a 4 inch lightning cable as well as the micro USB cable
which comes with the Anker battery.

Here's the Amazon link to the Anker battery:

Happy shopping and good luck with your decision.

I expect you're right, Allen, but I can always hope. I just cannot see
hauling around a long cable and plug in the battery when I'm out and about
and need to use my phone.

world uses micro USB for charging its products and manufacturers are smart
enough to build their batteries with both full sized USB and micro USB ports
so that with the appropriate cables, users of both iOS and android devices
can use their products. That just makes good economic sense.

batteries for use with various devices. I would like to find one that has a
lightning connector built directly into the battery pack. I used to have one
like that for the old 30 pin connectors. It was a cheap piece of junk of
course, and I paid the appropriate price. I'm looking for something that
would be better quality of course, but, I have never seen anything like that
on say, Amazon. With my for ass and my 5S I have used battery cases. But
they are quite expensive I think, and what I would like to find is a battery
pack that I can attach when necessary, and detach when not needed. And I
don't want to monkey with a cable. If you're out and about and you need to
attach a battery, you don't need a cable. You just need the battery
connected to the phone via the connector. Does such exist?
