It's been a while since I did this. I think though you need to have the pass code set up before you set up the finger print. Then each time you unlock the phone you can use either the pass code or finger print reader. Also, like I previously said if you need to reboot the phone you must use the pass code instead of the finger print reader. The reason I like the finger print reader better is that to turn on the phone instead of having to type the characters, all you need do is press down once on the home key to turn on the phone then leave your finger there till it recognizes it. The only time I've had trouble with this is when I've washed my hands and they are damp.
