More to the point, assuming that you have the app on your phone at the time of update, you will see that an update is available, upon checking for new updates. As you have no doubt noticed, there is a bug with regard to the App Store Badge update notification with regard to VoiceOver. That is to say, at least for me, not since v3.x of iOS have I received an App Store update notification. This bug was reported long, long ago and has been well documented. In my case, as a result of this bug, I open the App Store via the App Store badge on my iPhone at least once a day in order to see if there are updates available.
