I shook the phone, then tapped the edit field, heard that it was at the end of the selection, tapped it again and was at the beginning, then pressed dictate and said what I wanted to say, double tapped to get out of dictation, heard message which was what I recorded the second time. Your mileage may vary. Using iPhone 6, IOS 9.01.
