Firstly, My experiences with t-mobile have been nothing but positive. Secondly, your coverage may vary based on your location. Thirdly, T-mobile has some excellent deals right now. If you own your 6 then you can get a really low monthly payment. If not, their lease plan right now is is less than apple’s installment plan. There are pro’s and cons to each. Also T-mobile has two plans, A lease plan called Jump on Demand and an installment plan simply called Jump. You will have to research them both and decide what is best for you and your wife. Also, do not forget that the new iPhone 6S will support that other channel that t-mobile is updating their towers with. I can’t remember the technical lingo. LOL!
As far as your backups go, Are you backing up your iPhone in iTunes? When you plug your iPhone into your computer you will be able to determine if you have your phone set up to backup to iTunes or iCloud. Also, If you have way more files, videos, pictures, and such than your available iCloud storage has then your phone cannot backup to iCloud. So, check and make sure you have enough iCloud space/storage to perform an iCloud backup of your phone. If you and your wife are sharing the same iCloud account than those free 5 GB will fill up very quickly.
