Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread. Sieghard, after reading your thoughtful post, I did lots of testing only to find that I could not make VoiceOver speak the "delete" buttons on the left side of the screen unless I took focus away from the device after pressing the "Delete" button that initiates the deletion process. After focusing on the device, I pressed "delete" and swiped right and left and touched the screen spot by spot, so to speak, all to no avail. When I focused on "Cloud," and when I brought focus back from "Cloud" to "Device," the book-specific "Delete" buttons were spoken by both swiping and touching the screen. Perhaps this bug is device- and iOS-specific. I'm using an iPhone 5 and iOS 8.3. I may communicate with Audible again in order to tell them that no one, sighted or blind, should have to switch focus away from the device in order to delete a book. I am glad you are able to delete books in the prescribed way and only wish the process would work equally well for everyone. Again, thanks for your words.
