Obviously, any resource on the internet is subject to things like internet traffic. I'm not sure what you're referring to when you say you have "300mpbs down", but there are a lot of points where you could run into network congestion. I use Gmail, and I don't have any kind of recurring issue with the Gmail servers. Now that I'm running IOS 9.0.2, I do get error messages occasionally when trying to retrieve my email, but closing and restarting the Mail app always fixes this for me. This tells me that the problem is at Apple's end and not Gmail's.

I think there is some truth to what apple says.

I also have gmail problems using thunderbird on my pc.

Sometimes mail is very very slow to retrieve.

I have 300mpbs down so the bandwith isn't the question.

Hi,

This very annoying mail bug just happened a few minutes ago. The first
thing I did was to go to the app switcher and close everything out.
That did the trick this time. I start with that and then sometimes I
need to move on to more drastic items such as deleting the account
from settings, mail/contacts/calendar and reestablish the Gmail
account again. In the past, I have called Apple accessibility for
assistance and they have stated that Gmail seems to get stuck or some
how corrupted. I was polite but really didn't buy that. I do Have the
Gmail app on the phone and when this happens I know that Gmail is
working because I get my recent mail to show up there and also on my
Mac. Go figure it.

Best,
Eileen

I get this periodically as well. I thought it was a server issue at
first, but my other devices didn't have a problem at all. I know this
doesn't rule out a server issue, but I've discovered that removing the
Mail app from the App Switcher and restarting it seems to take care of
the problem for me. Looks like there's a little bug in the Mail app.

what this

The server @imap.gmail.com is not responding; make sure you entered the
correct information in Mail, Contacts and Calendar. It happens every so
often all information is correct. What is the deal?

Yes I have deleted and re- entered account information, multiple times,
don't know what it always happens with default mail application. I
downloaded the Gmail app as an alternative to the default mail as I got
tired of the message appearing. Am I missing something here?
