IOS 9 release was nearly as good as the release of 7...IOS8 was the one plagued with all the issues at first. Your phone likely just automatically downloaded the new update, but hasn't installed it yet. It's smart though to wait until the first or second patch has been released to get rid of some of the anoyances that tend to be standard in any apple IOS release.
