I think pretty much everybody agrees that how one perceives the quality of TTS voices is one of the most subjective aspects of speech output there is. I definitely think the high quality female voice sounds better than the compact voice, I also think for every-day use it's better than Alex. I love some of the high quality voices I can download for Jaws and occasionally I may switch to one of them for reading a long article, but for the most part I'd say give me Eloquence any day and wouldn't it be sweet if we could have Eloquence on the iPhone? Maybe all of us who love Eloquence for it's snappy responsiveness and for the most part precise pronounciation should write to Apple and ask them to bring it to the iPhone. Yes, I know it's no longer supported, but I sure hope it will still be available with Jaws 20 years from now although somehow I doubt it. It's like using an old, worn yet extremely functional and good quality tool, maybe there are newer and fancier tools out there, but you always reach for the old and familiar again.
