Walter, I can't guarantee you haven't already gotten this advice from other
lists, but here goes anyway. <grin>
This was one of the more frustrating iPhone tasks for me, so I can relate to
you. The easier solution is using a headset, but if you don't want to do
this and you're not doing something requiring privacy or in a place without
too much distraction, try holding the phone away from your ear. If the
speaker doesn't kick in, press home. This should take you to the home
screen and the speaker should come on. Now most of the time, the keypad
will be on the screen, but more often, you'll need to physically double tap
on the phone app and double tap the keypad tab. I know it sounds time
consuming, but eventually you'll do it and not even think about it.
Also, it helps to have audio ducking on so you can hear voice over during
the menu prompts and key presses.

Subject: Menu systems
Hi all. OK then, here's my very first question on this list.
I have asked this before on other lists and the answer I got will probably
be the answer you will give.
When on a call and needing to dial in digits for the menu system; 1 for
this, 5 for that and * for something else. When I move the phone away
from
my ear the speaker is supposed to kick in and access to the keypad is
allowed. However it doesn't always happen that way and when trying to
find
the correct number the automated service will say "sorry, I didn't
recognise
that number". If I'm calling my bank for example I need an 11 digit
sequence and then after that I'm asked for two other security digits.
finding these numbers takes time and I find I'm never given enough time.
Is
there a method of speeding up the process? Or another way of doing it
that
is more efficient? Walter.
