Hi Les, We got the Amazon echo back when it was cheap, or I should say should say cheaper, for prime members to purchase it. So my husband did that. I think it was $99 at that time. I don't know that I would purchase it at its full price. We surely don't use it for everything that you're supposed to be able to do, such as turning on certain devices. Mostly, I use it as a kitchen timer and to play music when I'm in the kitchen and don't feel like cranking my stereo which is in another room. You can access your prime music, of course, plus any Amazon music that you purchased, and via Bluetooth, you can also get at your iTunes library from your iPhone or other device. And there is I heart radio. I have had very bad luck accessing specific programs on tune in. You are supposed to be able to access podcasts and I think books. Oh yes, and you can also access audible books on the echo. I just don't find myself doing most of those things. For me, it's casual music and kitchen timer and the occasional attempts to get information, most of which fail. Google and Siri are much better for most information queries then is the echo, at least in my experience. It's a decent speaker. And there are what they call skills, what you access from the app on your iPhone. I just haven't found them terrifically useful. Your mileage may vary. Mary PS. The other thing that is really good is that you can easily order products what you have previously ordered and are available on prime. It figures that Amazon would make that process easy. It's very convenient.
