Samantha,
Each person has to decide which is better for them between Mac and Windows.
I am a Windows user, though I have tried to learn the Mac. The main difference
for me why I would never, as of this moment anyway, switch to the Mac is Word
processing. It is far, far easier to edit and create documents with Word on
Windows than Pages on the Mac.
However, that is from someone who has never mastered the interact/stop
interacting stuff with the Mac.
I've never had the kind of focus issues you are talking about in Windows when
using Microsoft Word.
But, does that mean it would be worth spending what you would have to spend to
add Windows and a full screen Reader like JAWS or Window-Eyes? Only you can
determine that. But you are talking about a lot of money. Even if you went with
buying Office through an Office 365 subscription at $10 per month and got
Window-Eyes for Office for free, you are still spending more than you do with
the Mac.
And, frankly, running Windows in a duel boot setup with the Mac is not very
satisfactory for the people I have talked with.
You may want to keep pushing on Apple to get the bugs fixed with VoiceOver and
Pages.
Good luck,
Richard
