Once these changes are done, and the phone is syncked, will the apps be restored in the modified order if a restore is necessary? Not a big deal; just curious.

This is what I found to be the easiest way for me. Once you group the apps to the pages that you want then the other pages will disappear eventually once you get all the apps on same page 1 or page 2 then three and four will disappear Hope that makes sense.
