Hi All,

I am new to this list, though certainly not new to the iPhone--I have used iOS
devices since 2009. I am wondering if anyone here has had experience typing
Japanese characters with the iPhone, and if so, I woudl appreciate any tips on
how to accomplish this successfully. I am just beginning to learn Japanese, and
have added both the ROmaji and Kana keyboards within my iPhone. I have also
added Japanese to the VO language rotor.. I cannot, however, seem to figure out
how to type efficiently. Whenever I try typing the English equivalents of a
symbol within the hiragana alphabet using the ROmaji keyboard, I am always
presented with a suggestions listbox with several different word options in it
(I'm not sure if these are Hiragana or Konji characters). I'mnot always sure
what to select, and how to go from this point. If I switch to the Kana
keyboard, Voiceover does not speak several of the characters at all. If anyone
has tips to offer, I would greatly appreciate it. ALso, because some of my
confusion is most certainly due to my lack of familiarity with the Japanese
language and may not be entirely iPHone specific, please feel free to write me
of-list if you deem this most appropriate. Thanks very much in advance for any
help! I am excited to be part of this list.

Best,
Lindsay
