Hi Eleanor,

Yes, this does seem to work, but I think it’s difficult to do with double
tapping. It seems to work for me if I split tap since I can do this much
faster. Just put one finger on the Featured or Top Charts tab, then hold it
still and tap 10 times with another finger. You could even use a finger on one
hand to put on the tab and a finger of the other hand to do the tapping.

Subject: Re: Is your App Store app slow/sluggish? Here is how to clear the App
Store cache

Hi

I was very interested to read this article, and was just wondering if anyone
had tried to do this and actually got it to work?? It's just I've tried, and it
might just be me doing something wrong, but it's not worked on any of my
attempts. I'm particularly interested as I have my new IPad and want to keep it
as uncluttered as possible. So if anyone knows if this works and can give me
some detailed instructions on how to accomplish this (idiot-profof), I'd be
really grateful. Alternatively, if anyone can recommend good apps or methods to
help keep the IPad free from rubbish I'd also be interested.

Thanks.

Eleanor

Hi all,

Just was listening to the Today in iOS Podcast and picked up a titbit of
information I didn’t know before. Apparently you can clear the cache in the App
Store app (this works also in the Podcasts, iTunes and iBooks apps) by doing
the following:

1. Open the App Store app

2. Put focus on the “Featured” or “Top Charts” tab in any of these apps.

3. Tap the tab 10 times quickly. For a sighted person the screen flickers
after the tenth tap and this apparently clears the cache for the app and this
in turn may (or may not) improve the performance of your phone. I find with
Voiceover it is easiest to split tap, just find the tab and keep one finger on
it, then use another finger to tap 10 times quickly. After the tenth tap you’ll
hear the same little tone that you hear when you open an app and I guess this
is the same as a sighted person seeing the screen flicker.

Here is a link to an article on CultofMac about this:

Sieghard
