I don't know if this will help at all, but when I found out that there's a very
specific way to disconnect/reconnect a Braille display from an iOS device, I've
followed it ever since. "connect the display as usual. Now, whenever you want
to disconnect, make sure to lock your phone first, then press the power button
on the display to turn it off. When you want to reconnect, turn the display on
first, then press the sleep/wake button or the home button on your phone. Your
display should reconnect automatically. I still sometimes have connection
problems, but not as much as I used to before I learned to follow this process.
Hope this helps.

Thanks,
Ari
