I also use Flashcards ++, but I don't use the built-in text-to-speech because I 
use it for Latin, for which there isn't a text-to-speech option. I just looked 
at the app's settings and see that subscribers can access text-to-speech while 
offline. That suggests to me that if you don't subscribe, it uses an online 
text-to-speech engine, which is probably the Castilian Spanish one also used by 
Google Translate. Since you can use offline text-to-speech if you subscribe, 
it's possible that you would have more choice about which text-to-speech is 
used.

I hope this is of some help. You could try contacting the developer; there's a 
Help link in Settings you can use to try. I got no response the one time I 
tried this, but maybe they'd respond to you since you would be talking about 
spending money on their app.
