I'll confess that iCloud has always confused me somewhat. I understand
the basic iCloud backup, but not much about what actually gets backed
up. I usually use an encrypted iTunes backup. So, for my questions:
1. Will an iCloud backup grab everything an encrypted iTunes backup
would? I know I can't back up apps to iCloud, but what about app data,
like how far I've gotten in a game like Papa Sangre or The Blind
Legend?
2. Will an iCloud backup grab my VDR library? I've always been unclear
about this.
3. If not, will VDR's new iCloud sync feature take care of this for me?
4. If I use an encrypted iTunes backup instead of an iCloud backup,
can I still use VDR's iCloud sync? In other words, do I need to have
an iCloud backup to get my stuff in VDR from my iPhone 4S to my
(hopefully not too far in the future) iPhone 6S? I hope this is making
sense.
5. What the heck is keychain, and if I do have to make an iCloud
backup, will this keychain feature backup things like my wifi password
and passwords and logged in status for things like facebook and
Twitter?

An unrelated question here. I'm having trouble backing up my iPhone
with iTunes. Here's the steps I've taken already, with the help of
Apple support (they were awesome, by the way!).
1. We finally figured out that the reason my new computer wasn't
seeing my iPhone is because I needed to do something (I'm not quite
sure anymore if it was update or completely install) the USB mobile
driver. Anyway, whatever they did, it fixed it.
2. Purchased a new 30-pin iPhone sync and charge cable to replace the
old one that was really showing its age.

I'm still having the same issue. I keep getting the message that "the
iPhone could not be backed up because the iPhone disconnected." This
is dismaying. Firstly, because I want as complete a backup as
possible, and I'm worried that I won't get that with an iCloud backup,
but also because I plan to sell this 4S (I hope I can get something
for it) to get a little money for my new 6S. The pricing may have
gotten cheaper with the AT&T Next plans, but it's still kind of a big
investment for me. Also, I'd like this 4S to be sold unlocked, and you
can't do that without doing a backup and factory reset before the
unlock process and then a restore after the process, and AT&T
specifies to do this with iTunes. I'm not sure if this unlock process
will work without iTunes.

Do you think something is wrong with the 30-pin port? Would some
compressed air maybe help if it's just that the port has some crap in
it?

Unlocking questions:
1. Where the heck would I get a new SIM card to put in the iPhone to
complete the unlock process? AT&T says not to insert your iPhone's
original SIM into the unlocked phone.
2. Can I keep my number, even after unlocking?
3. Would my old SIM from my 4S work with my 6S? I know Apple has done
some different SIM sizes over the years, and I have no idea of how
things stand now. Lol I don't even know what size SIM the 4S has, let
alone the 6S.

For 4S users (and anyone else who might have experience with this:
My iPhone's home button seems to be posessed. I think this has
something to do with my iPhone's freezing randomly, sometimes for
minutes at a time. This can happen even when the phone didn't just
have a freezing fit. Sometimes, I'll press the home button, and the
phone won't respond. So I'll press it again, and I get Siri popping
up. Sometimes if the phone freezes, I'll press the home button once to
get out of whatever app I'm in, once to get out of a particular
folder, and once to go back to the first page of apps, all a second or
two apart, and VO will turn off. And when Itry and turn VO back on,
the phone sometimes doesn't do it. Or the phone is just being
rediculously slow. So I'll do another tripple-press of the home
button, and sometimes VO will say that it's off. I've even tried
recalibrating the home button, and this is still happening. It's not
offen, but I do notice it. Do you think my home button is wearing out,
or just that iOS 9+Vo is just too much for the 4S at times?

Sorry for the millions of questions. I just want to make sure I don't
lose anything during the process of unlocking my old phone and getting
a new one, and that I can get some kind of money for the 4S. If all
else fails, I do still have a 4 in rather good condition, though I
doubt I'll get much from selling it lol.

Thanks,
Ari
