i replied before I really read through your message. Digit-Eyes has millions of commercial bar codes in its database. Having said that, some smaller brands are not there. But yes, you can create your own, but it is very useful with many products. On their web site with the scanning tips they explain how to find bar codes more efficiently. But, the iPhone camera is not really designed for bar code scanning, so it is slower than a dedicated bar code scanner. Since the Envision America ID Mate costs about $1300, taking a little longer to identify a bar code is just fine with me. HTH, Richard
