I purchased the digital-eyes app and like it, will take some getting used to
though. I’m curious if anyone has purchased a Bluetooth scanner for use with it
for faster and easier scanning? If so what one and why?

Thanks.

It is not a "you're close" alert perse; that is just what I referred to the
sound that is made when you've done a partial focus on the UPC code.

Hi, Everyone.
I got the Digit-Eyes full version on Wednesday and absolutely love it.
A few months ago I had my husband help me identify things for our
pantry and had made Braille labels, so used the BDE (before
Digit-Eyes) labeling to help with learning to scan. I also downloaded
the podcast from Applevis where Anonymouse gives hints and tips on the
use of the full version of the app.

I manage cans better than bottles or packaged items, but then I've
only been working with the app for a day or so. As an example, I had
the three cans of chicken stacked together and simply labeled
"chicken". What I didn't know, and found out through Digit-Eyes, is
that two were Hormel and one was Chicken of the Sea. So cool.

What's the "“you’re close alert”?
Would there be a way to read the sell-by or expiration info on the packaging?
Finally, is there a way to share the bar code info with another home
organization app on the same device?

Thanks,
Dani

First, let me congratulate some of you for such “colorful” posts! They’re

truly entertaining.

But now for a bit of boring seriousness; the DigitEyes introduced a major

enhancement (at least in my opinion) when the “you’re close alert” was

included. This is the feature where an audible alert is given when you’ve

managed to focus on a part of the UPC. This allows the user to concentrate

on that immediate area of the package.

Like others posting to this thread, I needed to develop the “scanning skill”

before being able to effectively use the app. And have others have stated,

the UPC on cans is usually near the label seem and towards the bottom.
