I had recently gone through this same bug, with the sound and call coming
through the handset instead of the headset, but it all started when I updated
to 9.3, so I’m actually thinking that this may be an iPhone firmware/iOS issue,
and not the headset issue.

This is further bolstered by the fact that you’re getting this same issue with
the Edge, as I’m using the Legend.

Either way, thanks for the fix, I had no idea that doing that would accomplish
that.

I always had to turn my headset off then on again to get the call audio routed
through the headset.

Thanks again for the tip.

Victor

See, now you had me second guessing myself. I totally blanked on how I was
always doing it. I crumbled under pressure...

Anyway, there you go.

I don’t use the hands free answer/hang up features or caller ID as I find them
either unreliable or unnecessary, but all that aside, I’ve found the Edge to
be the most complete single earpiece that I’ve used so far.

Be aware though, you’re going to find that sometimes, when answering a call or
making a call, the audio doesnt’ always root to the Edge. Other’s have
commented about this and have also experienced this issue with other bluetooth
earpieces so maybe it’s somethingg more to do with bluetooth earpieces and
not Edge specific. If it does happen, pressing and holding the call/hangup
button on the fat part of the Edge till you hear the quick beep will make the
call audio go through the earpiece. Annoying, but at least there’s a fix for
it.

A question, are you getting an electronic frequency hum with the backbeats
when Voiceover speaks?

I’ve been thinking of getting the backbeat pro and was curious if this humming
that I come across with other bluetooth stereo headsets is also present in
them.

Hi Keith and Merv,

OK, so I guess that is why this list exists. I tried all sorts of stuff, but I
hadn’t tried pushing and holding the voice control button on the boom arm or
maybe not long enough. Yes, Keith, it works perfectly.

It is also good to know that the earpiece senses that it is being removed, the
Plantronics Backbeat Sense stereo headset I also purchased recently does that
as well and it’s a nice feature.

Now I am quite happy with my purchase. Of course I have to dig out my old Jabra
and try pushing and holding the button on the boom arm, maybe it will also
play/pause that way and I would have used it for years not knowing about it.

Regards,

Sieghard

Hi Sieghard,

I just tried it with my Edge, having never tried it before. I was able to
successfully pause and restart both music from the Music app, and an Audible
book.

Near the top of the boom on which the mic is located is a small button. I just
held it down for about 2 to 3 seconds until I heard a beedp, and it paused or
restarted playback.

Hope this works for you, Keith

Subject: Plantronics Voyager Edge headset

Hi List,

I just received my Plantronics Voyager Edge headset today. From all the
descriptions I expected it to be smaller, this headset is not really smaller
than my Jabra Supreme which in fact is smaller when it is folded. The main
difference is that the Supreme sits on the ear and requires a hook and the Edge
goes a bit in the ear and seems to stay in place quite securely. It also feels
quite comfortable.

Anyhow, I had asked prior to purchasing whether it is possible to play/pause
audio with this headset and I was told it is. I think Cristobal was one of the
people who answered, but I could be wrong. Anyways, I’d really appreciate if I
could be enlightened as to the secret on how to do this. I pushed every button
I could find on this when I had an Audible book playing, but it does not seem
to be possible to pause playback this way. All I can find on this headset is an
on/off slider switch, volume up and down buttons (they all sit sort of on the
edge, then there is a button on the back of the little boom arm which, when
pressed says “Say a command” and there is the main area where if you press
without anything going on the headset announces the remaining talk time, when
the phone rings this becomes the answer/hang up button and if you press and
hold for a moment it invokes SIRI.

Answering a call by saying “Answering” when the phone is ringing also seems to
work well, but this also was reliable with my Jabra Supreme and in fact
everything else from the button on the boom arm to the volume buttons and so on
is extremely similar to my old Jabra.

. I primarily invested in this relatively expensive headset because I really
like the ability to play or pause audio and I’d be quite disappointed if this
wasn’t possible especially after having people tell me it was.

Regards,

Sieghard
