Hi Ann, The higher you go the less is the air pressure. Also, at lower elevations air pressure decreases faster as you go up. Is the 730 feet the elevation of your house or that of your nearby airport? Below are some examples of air pressure calculated using the online air pressure calculator from www.altitude.org:
At 0ft, the standard barometric pressure is 101 kPa (760 mmHg). This means that there is 100% of the oxygen available at sea level. At 500ft, the standard barometric pressure is 100 kPa (747 mmHg). This means that there is 98% of the oxygen available at sea level. At 730 feet, the standard barometric pressure is 99 kPa (741 mmHg). This means that there is 97% of the oxygen available at sea level. At 830ft, the standard barometric pressure is 98 kPa (738 mmHg). This means that there is 97% of the oxygen available at sea level. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Ann Byrne Sent: Saturday, May 14, 2016 9:19 AM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: Netapmo weather Understood about elevation. We are at 730 feet above sea level. and, actually, it reads .8 inches low, not high. So sometimes we have 28.9 inches instead of the National Weather Service report of 29.7, for example. So I just ignore the report.
