Hi, You've had some good answers already, but I'm going to throw my two cents worth in.
It really depends on how much scanning you are going to do and how much time you want to take doing it. It also depends on whether having paragraph breaks is important to you. KNFB Reader is by far the fastest and easiest scanning app to use, hands down. It does an excellent job with accuracy, you can save files, you can continue to add pages to a document so you end up with one multipage document instead of many one page documents. If you have a stand, you can even put it into a mode where it detects the turning of the page and automatically takes the next picture, then when you are done, it processes the scanned pages. I wouldn't do more than 30 pages in a sitting though because of some issues. ON the other hand, Prizmo does an equally good job with accuracy, tries to maintain paragraph breaks, and also can save documents. I do not think it has an automatic mode. You can take scans of many pages and then export it as one file and have it do the processing of all the pages then. However, it takes about 6 or 10 steps to get a page scanned and recognized where KNFB Reader does it in one. So, it really depends on how much time you want to take to get a good scan. With KNFB Reader being on sale for $74.99 today through Friday, you really have to ask yourself is the time saved and the ease of use worth the extra money? Prizmo is still $9.99 I think. I only mention those two because they are the best for being able to save a document. TextGrabber does a good job and is a couple dollars less than Prizmo, but you can't save documents without copying and pasting your results into another app. In my opinion, none of the other OCR apps are worth anything. I hope that helps, Richard -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Dani Pagador Sent: Monday, May 16, 2016 12:51 AM To: iPhone for visually impaired <[email protected]> Subject: Why Would You Choose the KNFB Reader Over The Other Options? Hi, Everyone. I know that the KNFB Reader is going to be on sale soon. For those of you who have, and use it, why would you choose KNFB over all the options that are VO- and blind-friendly? I'm on a really tight budget and don't have the money to try out all the possibilities. I've wanted the KNFB app for a while, but couldn't bring myself to plunk down the $$$ for it when the money could go toward other things. I thought I'd bite the bullet and ask what y'all think, one way or the other. Thanks, Dani -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
