Hello Chris, First, I want you to know that there is no built-in mechanism by which to notify an applicant as to why they were or were not accepted.
Second, I suggest that the best way to subscribe to any Google Groups list is via the web form which allows one to include a short sentence or two as to why they wish to join. I'm almost certain that the email application method does not allow for this. I think the email application method works best when one wishes to join an open list where a moderator is not required to approve an applicant. Finally, to join the Mac Visionaries mailing list, from within your preferred web browser, go to http://groups.google.com and search for the group. Then, find the subscribe button and complete the form.
