As a follow up to my previous post in this thread, I got hold of a Verizon 
Wireless iPhone 6 Plus and explored this feature.  

To my surprise, it is definitely different than A T & T Wireless.  

One has to use the *72 and *73 method to enable/disable the feature.  Not a big 
deal, I'm just surprised.

If it does not work, this will:
dial *72 and the number you are forwarding to.
Double tap the call button and you will hear a some quick beeps. Just hang up.
That is it.
When you want to cancel:
dial *73 and click the call button. Once again you will hear the beeps, just 
hang up and you are back to normal.
