A double tap and hold then release after a second or so seems to work for most people. For those where it doesn’t work it is hard to say that it doesn’t because of the way they perform the gesture or because it just doesn’t work. I also thought at first it didn’t work, but have since tried it again on both my 6S Plus and my wife’s 6S and her old 6 and it works on all three devices.

Davy, make sure you double tap and hold and don’t lift your finger too soon, make sure the triple tone sounds and then give it another half second or second before you lift your finger. If it doesn’t work the first time try it a second time and move your finger a bit more towards the edge, if you have a case it is easier as you can put your finger right up against the case.
