Hmm, I just tried it again and while I have done so several times yesterday when it didn’t work, it does work now. It does sometimes seem to matter where exactly the focus is, I just tried it by swiping left all the way until I got to “Search, dimmed” and it didn’t work twice in a row, then I swipe left one more time so it made the bonk sound and then it worked. When I find the search field by touch it seems to work better if I make sure I slide my finger all the way to the left against the edge of my case. But I think it’s pretty safe to say that it seems to be consistant although I can’t get it to work the way Donna says with a split tap. Davy, make sure you double tap and hold and don’t lift your finger too soon, make sure the triple tone sounds and then give it another half second or second before you lift your finger. If it doesn’t work the first time try it a second time and move your finger a bit more towards the edge, if you have a case it is easier as you can put your finger right up against the case.
