So, I uninstalled and reinstalled Kate, and so far, the skipping text issue seems to have gone away. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, though. On the other hand, I'm still having flicking issues pretty much everywhere, when the screen freezes, and nothing appears to be on it for quite a few seconds, as well as The occasional issue of having a few words repeated, usually at the end of sentences.
