I don't understand how this has anything to do with Apple dropping their
ad sponsored music streaming. Apple has the licensing rights to stream
the music in the iTunes store, so I don't see how Apple could be afraid
of being sued. I also couldn't find anything with a Google search
explaining why Apple drop their free music streaming other than the
success of their paid service.
I'd also encourage people to look into this issue and make up their own
minds. I'm not sure if RIA is to blame or that their licensing is
stupid. IMHO, these issues tend to have multiple sides and are more
complex than can be captured in a phrase or two.
