I just asked SIRI exactly what Ed said and received this answer: Sorry, I can’t play song charts by genre, but I can find top songs from a year or I can create a country radio station for you.
I am wondering why SIRI doesn’t know the top song from a particular genre as this information should be readily available, so let’s hope SIRI gets a lot smarter soon. Try saying “Play the number 1 song from June 1972” That will play “Oh Girl” by The Chi-Lites. I’m sure this is not what you wanted. You can have Siri create a classic country station, or possibly even a station featuring a particular artist like Pandora offers. I hope this helps some.
