Hello Richard, Yes, absolutely. I entered text, then reviewed it via the character settings on the VoiceOver Rotor. In each instance, the system behaved just as expected.
I’m certainly not suggesting that the problem doesn’t exist, I’m merely stating that I cannot reproduce it. Just as we discovered , last year with the “Clear All Notifications button”, when the 6 and 6 Plus were first released, this may have something to do with how the display settings are configured. If you will recall, in that instance, anyone who had chosen to increase the font size of their display, could not activate the “Clear All Notifications” button. Of course, this was resolved in a subsequent OS update. By the way, I tested this particular issue on A T & T Wireless and Sprint devices. Also, as in the past, the problem may have something to do with carrier specific software. For example, when the 6 and 6 Plus were first released, there was a screen rotation problem with Verizon Wireless devices that did not exist on either Sprint or A T & T Wireless. Again, the problem was resolved with subsequent updates of the operating system. Just some food for thought. Mark, Did you enter more than one character, then review by characters using the rotor? At least three people have duplicated the inconsistency. The key there, is that it is inconsistent. I reboot my phone and iPod Touch often as well. Richard (From a poster of a church cemetery) When you are dead, you don't know that you are dead. It is difficult only for the others. It's the same when you are stupid. (Sent from my iPhone 5S) On Jul 6, 2016, at 11:16 PM, M. VoiceOver always provides the phonetic feedback regardless of whether I am entering the first letter or the last letter in any text field. It should be noted that I do reboot my device several times throughout the day, depending upon the apps I recently used. For example, I have discovered that it is best to reboot the phone after using Newsify. I was typing a text message to my husband, and I believed I had mistyped the first letter in the text field, so went back to check, using the characters function of the rotor, and VoiceOver did not give me the military term for the letter. I forget what the name for this is, but the letter I typed was V, and I did not hear the word Victor, as I expected. I just got VoiceOver saying the letter. I turned off VoiceOver, and turned it back on again, then tried doing this again in the messages text field, and the same thing happened. I even tried opening notes and doing it there, and got the same results. But when I typed in the to field for this email, I got the expected behavior of VoiceOver announcing the word after the letter. I'm going to see if the same thing happens with the subject and body of this email. Everything worked as expected when I checked the subject and body fields of the email, so I'm not sure what's going on. Can others test for this, particularly in The messages and notes apps, and report back? -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
