wasn't able to install Talkback on S7, probably because it is disabled

I wrote a detailed reviewon it for my website but it is unfortunately

From sighted point of view comparing Galaxy S7 and iPhone 6S is just
as comparing Mercedes and BMW.

From partially sighted corner S7 has some advantages since there are
tones of look and feel customizations, zooming accessibility options
and of course, a gallery of visual themes from the Gallaxy Store.

But, talking from the blind perspective, Samsung and Google have a lot
to learn about accessibility from Apple.

just use it without messing with it, iOS still has a definite
advantage. But android accessibility has made lots of strides, less
so if you need braille support and are going to be relying on
braille back. On the other hand, the cost of Apple products is
quite high and out of the reach of many people. So the fact that
android accessibility is improving, and the fact that you can get a
good android device for less than the cost of a comparable iPhone
is a good thing.

And what about upgradability? Not all Android devices support or
have the latest versions and not all can support them which
means that we have even more special questions to ask the
dealers who probably won't know because they are in big chains

Current Android 7 and TalkBack 5 accessibility user experience
matches iOS 10 VoiceOVEr in most areas and exceeds in other areas.
I'll agree that earlier Android accessibility was sub-optimal
and had a lot to be desired, but I'd encourage screen reader
users to try modern Android TalkBack. You'll be pleasantly

You could always run the version you had currently on

iTunes is the only way and if you avoid iTunes with

Hi Terry,

according to Amazon.com <http://amazon.com> the new
32 gig iPod Touch 6th gen is
selling for $242. There are used models listing for
as little as $174.

Using some sort of cloud backup such as Dropbox to
transfer files
in and out of your iPod will be very slow as you
will have to
upload the large files to Dropbox then download
them into your
iPod Touch. Learning to use iTunes will make this
process much,
much faster--when iTunes becomes more user friendly.

You should really, really try to get the newer 6th
generation
because if you buy the older 5th gen it will be of
little use to
you going forward since it will no longer be
upgradeable to newer
versions of iOS--you'll be stuck with iOS 9 the
remainder of the
time you own this device--you will regret it.

I know if I

But for now, I don't really want to wait on that.

In all honestly, I don't put anything on my iPhone

Spotify. That was
supposed to be tuning in. Also, I do have voice

But I use dropbox more. I do plan to put all these

But the books, and the movies I would be putting

put them into
dropbox and look at them that way on the iPhone? I
don't know. I
would do anything not to have to use iTunes. Right
now for my

the best idea?
But I will admit, I do not know how to take things

Subject: Questions regarding the IPod

Hello everybody,

I am considering purchasing an IPod Touch, 5th
generation. I do
not want the latest one, because I feel I just
can't afford it.
But also, I don't think I need all those features.

So here are some questions I have.

Do I have to activate male on the IPod. I receive
my mail on my
phone, and I really do not want it in both places.

Also, I have a lot of audio described movies, is
there a way to
add these to the IPod?
If so, how would I do this? Would they go in to a
certain folder?

Also, I have a lot of audiobooks in MP3 format.
Would they have to go in to a certain folder as well?
I guess my main question is, can any MP3 file be
put on the IPod?

Once I add something, is it easy to remove?

Also, how do I keep photos off the IPod?
Again, I want these to stay on my phone.

My reason for wanting to purchase an IPod, is so I
can listen to
stuff without interruptions.. For instance, I have
a Spotify
account. I want to put the app on my IPod, and
listen to the
music from my Bluetooth speaker.
Right now, when I listen with my phone, even
though I mute the
phone, some notices still come through. Even with
the screen
locked. So I am tired of this, and do not want it
anymore.

Any help with all this will be much appreciated. I
may have more
questions to come. Especially when it comes to
ITunes. I really
dislike that program.

Thank you,

Terri

And what about upgradability? Not all Android devices support or
have the latest versions and not all can support them which
means that we have even more special questions to ask the
dealers who probably won't know because they are in big chains
and they only sell, they do not know a thing about what they
sell and definitely no blindness specific stuff. At least that's
the way in Sweden now.

You'll be pleasantly
surprised, but to be fair it is difficult to let go of legacy
experiences one may have.

Before that, I had an earlier version of a tablet, and I really
dislike that as well. At one point, along time ago, I had an
android phone, and I never like that thing. I know some people
love android products, and that is there right, and their

those limitations. But thank you again for giving me your

There's a lot of good reasons not to get an Android tablet, one
of which is that you may not want to learn another interface

tablets aren't very accessible. Jonathan Mosen has a good
article talking about his experience with an Android phone, and
based on that article, and some other reasons, I got a Samsung
S7 Active to go along with my Nexus 7 tablet. The iPhone
definitely has it's strengths, but depending on what you do
with the phone, an Android phone or tablet is quite accessible.

Hello everybody,

Well, I will not be getting an iPod after all.
I called AT&T, to see when I could upgrade my phone. I want
more memory on my phone. I was told I could upgrade in
February. I don't know if I will upgrade now. But I might.
Anyway, when I was talking to the lady, she told me that they
were running a great promotion on tablets. I told her then I
would blind, and that I did not want an android tablet because
I didn't feel they were very accessible.
So she looked to see what she could offer me. She said she
could offer me an iPad mini, but it was the second generation.
I don't know much about iPads, so I asked her what the latest
generation was. She told me the latest generation wasn't for.
So I told her that's what I wanted. I know I will be paying on
it for a while, but the payments were small. So I decided to
go with the 64 gig model. I thought that would give me plenty
of space to do whatever I wanted to do. I got it in silver.

It should arrive in about five days. I'm very excited about
this! No I don't feel so over whelmed, when it comes to making
a decision as to what kind of device to get, or not to get.

In a little while, I will write a post and ask about iPads.
Like I said, I don't know much about them. So I need to learn
some things.

Thank you all for all of the help and support. I really
appreciate it

Thank you, and have a great day!

Hello Terri,
Other places other than Apple offer refurbished iPods. I
got both of my kids refurbished 5th generation iPods a

go to their site and do a search for Refurbished iPod and
see what comes up.

For audio books and movies, I would also recommend dropbox
to help free up some space on your phone. Dropbox is a
great storage solution when you do not have a lot of space

Hope this helps.

Hi there,Sieghard

Thank you for letting me know this. I was wondering if she

discover he was incorrect.
I am at a loss as to what to do. I really don't want to
devices. I mean, that does seem kind of silly. I know why
people do it, and I know why I want to do it. But I don't
really have the money to put in to buying a brand-new iPod,
and they do have refurbished one. That was supposed to be,
they do not have refurbished ones. I just want to be able
to enjoy my shows and stuff, without having a lot of
distractions. But then when I worry I'm not getting my
texts or things of that nature, I get concerned and I am
missing important things. Sometimes I am, and sometimes I'm
not. I wish I had purchased an iPhone with more memory. But
I can't upgrade for a while now. Mine only has 16 gigs, but
it looks more like I only have about 11 gigs every level. I
think the last time I looked I had a little over five gigs
of space. So that is hard to work with. I would like to put
audiobooks, and some music, and some other stuff on my
phone. But I haven't used iTunes in a long time, and I am
not fond of it. When I did use it, I hated it! But I know I
am not the only one that feels this way. So maybe I will
use dropbox after all, at least as much as I can. Well I
appreciate you and the list listening to me ramble. I just
needed to get this stuff said.. I guess I will stick with
just my iPhone for now. Maybe I could take some
applications off of it that I really don't use, and that
might give me more space. I don't know.

Thank you so much!

Hello everybody,

Someone suggested that I look on the Apple website, to see
if I could find a refurbished model. For either the fifth
generation, or the sixth generation. So I did this. When I
couldn't find anything, I decided to call Apple. I spoke
with a very nice lady who told me that they had not had
any refurbished models for at least a couple of months now.

I asked her if you knew whether or not the fifth
generation would support iOS 10. She said that it would.
So now I am rather confused why summer you feel that it
won't. Where have you read this, or heard this? Why would
that lady be wrong?
I'm not saying she is or isn't, it's just something I'm
curious about. I want to learn more about this, so I
understand this. Thank you so much!

waiting a few months to see what happens with new

So after ios 10 comes out, the apps you are using might
still support
ios 9 at first, but after a while they will probably
drop that support.

You could always run the version you had currently on
your iPod, but
there is no guarantee that you will always be able to
update to the
most recent version of the app, especially since the
iPod 5 will not
be supported by ios 10.
So if having the most recent version of the app is
important to you,
then you should maybe wait, continue to save until you
could get an iPod 6.

Hello everyone who has contacted me, regarding my iPod

I really appreciate it. I know I should probably buy
the latest

don't need it

I also realize that I could put stuff on my phone, and
listen to it
that way. But I honestly don't have a lot of space left
on my phone.
It is a 16 gig model and I think it have about five
gigs of space
left. I know I could put it on disturb also.
However, I don't really want to do that, because I get
some
important texts and calls during the day. So I wouldn't
want to miss
those, because the Phone was on do not disturb. So this
is why I
have decided to go with this generation iPod.

Long as I am able to do what I want with it, and that
is fine with
me. Now here is my question. If my application such as,
Spotify,
tuna in, 50 radio Pro, and maybe a couple others I
can't think of at
the moment, I have updates, when I likely still be able
to get these
updates? That is my biggest concern! I would really
appreciated if
anyone could answer that for me. I don't mind if I
cannot upgrade
past nine. I don't see why that would matter to me,
unless it got to
a point where I could not do my update for my
application. Then that
would definitely be a problem. Thank you for all the
help so far. It
really does mean a lot to me. Sorry this message is a
little sloppy.
I am using dictation. I have never learned how to

Probably not a big concern for now if all you want to
do is run
Spotify, listen to Audio books and so on.
Personally I think it's a waste of money, if you don't
want
notifications while you listen to a book or music just
bring up
SIRI and say "Turn on Do Not Disturb".
As far as getting stuff onto the iPod Touch it is
identical to an iPhone.
Yes, you can use Dropbox or any number of other cloud
services to
access stuff inside their apps, but if you want the
music app then
iTunes is the only way and if you avoid iTunes with
your iPhone
then you will also avoid it with the iPod Touch.
I started out with an iPod Touch in 2009 and then got
the iPhone 4
in 2010. A month or two after I got the iPhone I sold
my iPod Touch
because it was just sitting in the drawer. The same
happened when I bought my 6S.
I kept my 5S at the time and thought maybe I use it at
home for
Audible and stuff like that, but I just never did
because I prefer
to use one device instead of two which essentially do
the same thing.

Correct. iPhone 5 and later, iPad 4, iPad Mini 2 and
later, iPad
Pro both
12 and 9.7-inch and iPod Touch 6th Generation will all
run iOS 10.

Hi Terry,

according to Amazon.com <http://amazon.com> the new
32 gig iPod Touch 6th gen is
selling for $242. There are used models listing for
as little as $174.

Using some sort of cloud backup such as Dropbox to
transfer files
in and out of your iPod will be very slow as you will
have to
upload the large files to Dropbox then download them
into your

Here's the Amazon.com <http://amazon.com> link:

Hello Richard,

Thank you so much for your advice. I really
appreciate it. I would
wait and save up money to get the six generation
model, but it is
hard for me to save up money. So that is why I am
taking what I
can get. Maybe there is not the greatest idea. But I
know if I
wait for a while, the prices for the sixth generation
will
hopefully go down. So by then, maybe I will be able
to afford one.
But for now, I don't really want to wait on that.

In all honestly, I don't put anything on my iPhone
right now. It's
only a 16 gig model, so it cannot hold much. I do
read some stuff
through to noon, and I listen to stuff through
Spotify. That was
supposed to be tuning in. Also, I do have voice
reader on my phone, as well as dropbox.
But I use dropbox more. I do plan to put all these
programs on my
iPod, once I get it.
But the books, and the movies I would be putting onto
the iPod,
are currently on my hard drive. So maybe I could put
them into
dropbox and look at them that way on the iPhone? I
don't know. I
would do anything not to have to use iTunes. Right
now for my
phone I have it sync on Wi-Fi. Maybe that is not the
best idea?
But I will admit, I do not know how to take things
off my phone,
or really put them on there. I've never done it.
Thank you again
for your help. If you have any more advice, or
suggestions, I would really appreciate that.

Have a good night!

Terri

iTunes will show that you have two devices and you

on it.
You do not have to enable mail on the touch.
I would strongly recommend, however, that you
consider saving up
for the iPod Touch 6th generation.
I don't know how much longer Apple will support the 5th
generation and as one who has owned both, the 6 is
worth it.
For your mp3 books, are you using Voice Dream Reader
or just
treating them as books through iTunes?

Audio described movies will show up in the video app
if you are
transferring them with iTunes. Or, are these just
mp3 files from
Blind Mice or somewhere? If just mp3 files, again,
Voice Dream
Reader would handle them fine and you can get them
on your device
through DropBox rather than going through the pains
of iTunes.

I too have an iPhone and an iPod for similar
reasons. I wanted
to have a device dedicated to listening to music and
reading
books. I find I do other things with it, but those
are the main two things.

Enjoy,
Richard

Subject: Questions regarding the IPod

Hello everybody,

I am considering purchasing an IPod Touch, 5th
generation. I do
not want the latest one, because I feel I just can't
afford it.
But also, I don't think I need all those features.

So here are some questions I have.

Do I have to activate male on the IPod. I receive my
mail on my
phone, and I really do not want it in both places.

Also, I have a lot of audio described movies, is
there a way to
add these to the IPod?
If so, how would I do this? Would they go in to a
certain folder?

Also, I have a lot of audiobooks in MP3 format.
Would they have to go in to a certain folder as well?
I guess my main question is, can any MP3 file be put
on the IPod?

Once I add something, is it easy to remove?

Also, how do I keep photos off the IPod?
Again, I want these to stay on my phone.

My reason for wanting to purchase an IPod, is so I
can listen to
stuff without interruptions.. For instance, I have a
Spotify
account. I want to put the app on my IPod, and
listen to the
music from my Bluetooth speaker.
Right now, when I listen with my phone, even though
I mute the
phone, some notices still come through. Even with
the screen
locked. So I am tired of this, and do not want it
anymore.

Any help with all this will be much appreciated. I
may have more
questions to come. Especially when it comes to
ITunes. I really
dislike that program.

Thank you,

Terri
