Thanks Sieghard ... the point where the mute switch doesn't mute vibrations is
a good one, and for me, is the deciding reason when I go into a meeting or
other quiet time, why I would choose "do not disturb" instead of just flipping
the mute switch.

Another difference is the if you flick the Mute switch to on and you have
vibrations set up then the phone still vibrates. If you turn on Do Not Disturb
there will be no sounds or vibrations. You can also tell the phone that Do Not
Disturb only applies when the phone is locked, this way if
You have it scheduled to be on Do Not Disturb from, for example 10 pm to 7 AM
but maybe you are awake in the middle of the night and are using your phone,
then you would get tones and notifications.

Do not disturb and the mute switch are a bit different. Mute silences the
sounds from your phone and is on until you switch it off.

Do not disturb can be set up on a schedule, and it can be customized, so for
example, you can have the phone ring if anyone in your favorites calls you but
not otherwise. You can also have calls go through if their from the same person
and you get three of them in a short period of time.

Here's an article that explains the difference:
