Hi,
This doesn't always work as sometimes the usual roter options are not always
available in iBooks for me. Also, the double tap and hold doesn't work at
all for navigation links that are supposed to move you to another part of
the book. I am not sure if this is an accessibility issue or one related to
formatting of a particular book or PDF as in some cases, the links work just
fine and other times they don't.

Hello,
When you use up and down flicks along with the rotor to navigate on to the
exact link, use a double-tap and hold (pass-through gesture) to tell the
iOS device you want to work specifically with the link. A menu of options
should pop up.

Thank you, Dameshe and Scott, for weighing in. I am going to get
sighted help tomorrow and do some more experimenting. Dameshe, from a
character by character search of lines containing links, it certainly
appears that any line containing a link carries other information
besides the name of the link, including "greater than" signs
signifying the presence of a link. I'll be back with an update soon.

Although this is not exactly related to this specific issue, I have

I would be curious if anyone has had any success with speech and/or
Braille
when activating links. I think this is something that needs to be
brought to
APple's attention and I would encourage you to do so by e-mailing

I have had a few books with links that didn't work. What seems to have
happened is that the link isn't on a line by itself, usually I have a
comma or some other punctuation. It's like if someone emails you a
link,
as onlg as that links text is all on one line you can usually click it.
But if I wrote the url like this,
www.google.coj,
and you receive it with the comma after the m in .com, you can not
activate that link.
Try moving your finger down the screen til you get to the link then
double
tap it. If this method doesn't work, then I am afraid you have other
punctuation or something on the line with the link.
Sorry for the rambling message, hope it helped some.

Subject: Difficulty with Activating Links in an iBooks Book
Greetings to the list.
I am using iBooks 1.1.1 on my iPhone 3GS to read a book in the Rough
Guide travel series. This book contains links to sections of chapters
which it lists at the start of each chapter. Try as I might, I cannot
activate those links and jump to a desired page number. I have
stopped continuous reading, changed the rotor to "word mode," and
double-tapped on words in the title of the link and on the word "link"
itself, all to no avail. Of course, I can activate the "search"
button and do a search for the desired section's title, but I'd rather
just click on the link for that title. Any suggestions are welcome
and most appreciated.
