I think that two button hard reset - think that's the term - is about count to ten in seconds. I can just see enough, though sometimes still don't spot... the blank black screen with a big bright apple symbol appears on it. But narrow field of view means I've still missed it. On the occasion I held it too long, it just went off, so held the power button a bit to make it come on as normal.
Don't know if that will fix the editing field error though. The editing thing is usually done by finding the edit menu, find and tap on select all, then flick up or down to find delete and double tap that and apart from a possible confirmation, but it will clear the edit field entirely.
