Thanks so much Anna. Also, on 2 of them I got a ‘report as junk and delete’ option after blocking, but 1 or 2 did not. This is probably user inconsistency ;)

Then choose the Details button. A screen will open that gives you options like creating a contact. At the bottom is a Block button. Choose that, and you will stop receiving messages from that person. Of course, if someone uses a different email address or phone number, they will still get through until you block them.
