Hi,
I always have backups, though. So if the worse comes to the
worse, I can just go on iTunes...

You can also drive 20 years without wearing a seat belt and never
get fined or have an accident, but then when you do have one and
go through the window head first you wish you had worn the seat
belt.
The same goes for making sure you have a backup and for closing
out your apps and doing at least a reboot of your iPhone if you
don't want to do a Reset Network Settings.
But to each their own, it is what I do and I know for a fact that
people on this list and others I know have had issues from an
upgrade and after they did a Reset Network setting the problems
disappeared. I guess the difference between my car example and
the iPhone is that often doing this after the fact still helps
whereas of course you can't put on the seat belt after you go
through the window *smile*.

Sieghard

Hi,
I didn't do network settings, didn't close down the APPS, took 5
minutes to download the 1.6 GB, and 15 or so to install on both
the iPad air, and iPhone 5S.

And to add to Anna's comment I can say that I upgraded my wife's
old iPhone 6 which we want to sell since she now has a 6S and it
went beautifully and without a hitch.
I did this last night, it told me the update was 1.1 Gb (for my
6S Plus I seem to remember it was much larger) and it downloaded
in about 4 minutes, the update itself took about 15 minutes and
it was all done.
I did, however, do my usual preparation: backup, close all apps
from the app switcher and do a Reset Network Settings. Then I
reconnected to Wi-Fi, renamed the phone's name back to Jackie's
iPhone 6 since a reset network settings will change whatever you
had named it to simply "iPhone" and then I did the update.

Sieghard

Hi,
The various sites said yesterday evening that updating over the
air was now safe.
Best,
Anna

Hi I would like to upgrade my phone to the latest IoS.
Is it safe to do over the air now or is it better to still
connect up to Itunes and do it that way?
