Rebecca, Others have already discussed the physical differences between the iPhone SE and the 7 but you should also consider that the SE doesn't support 3D touch and the 7 does. 3D touch was introduced in September 2015 with the iPhone 6S line and allows access to additional settings or features by the amount of pressure pressed on the screen when engaging a particular control. Only Iphone models 6S and later support 3D touch and apparently Apple has expanded this feature set with iOS 10. This makes perfect sense because ultimately Apple is about selling product and folks will have to upgrade their devices to get access to 3D touch.
Something to think about before you upgrade. Personally, I believe you are wise to get the most robust technology available when you upgrade provided the price isn't prohibitive.
