sieghard and richard,

very understanding. that is how I was given fro blind tech trainer who
expalined to me. somehow, he forgot about multi-color like plaid, and desig. no
problem. sieghard, yes, I deid in good light. wink!

richard, blind tech trainer said that digital eye is good for heairng blind who
rely on voce, not brialle. so that is why I was advised not to use digital eye
as well as blind square as they are mostly work in voice. we eed to depend on
brialle display. wink1 thank you1

suincerely,
rich

I have to mostly agree with Sieghard on this one.
Digit-Eyes sells labels that can be sown into clothes and will last through
dozens of washing and drying cycles.
If you don't want to go to that extent, try TapTapSee. I am hoping the output
stays on the screen long enough to use with a braille display. Sieghard is
right, that the iPhone is not very good at color identification, but TapTapSee
will at least identify patterns and if the light is good, at least come close
on the color.
I've used it fairly successfully with shirts with a wide variety of patterns
and colors and it is probably 75% accurate with color in mediocre lighting and
gets better in good lighting.
But, you will always want sighted confirmation or good labels like Sieghard
suggested for any time that being well dressed is important. If it is a casual
event, and exact matching isn't necessary, with practice TapTapSee can do OK.
Plus it is free.
HTH,
Richard

  Hi Rich and Todd,

Unfortunately iPhone apps for colour identification are all very problematic
and inaccurate. The problem is that any results greatly depend on what light
you are in, whether it is daylight or artificial light, direct or indirect
light and on and on. Dedicated talking colour identifiers like the Colorino
have an internal light source, you push the opening right up against what you
want to identify and because all other light from the outside is cut off the
results are much more accurate and consistent. I know that a talking colour
identifier may be of very limited use to somebody who is hard of hearing and
probably it is useless for the DeafBlind, but unfortunately all apps are
equally bad at given good results. All in all it is probably easier if you tag
your clothing with washable barcodes and code the barcodes with information as
to what sort of material and colour the clothing is, then use an app like
Digit-Eyes to read these labels since I am quite sure this would also work with
a braille display.

  Sieghard

  Rich,

I noticed the same thing as you said below months ago after downloading that
Color ID app. I can tell by the way it behaves, not from VO, but from what the
Braille Sense U2 Mini Braille display said in Braille.

If you or I moved the iPhone a little bit, it will make the camera see
something where the color is still the same but makes the camera think
differently.

I have not used the app for a long time now. It needs some improvements.

My U2 Mini is muted so Braille is the only means.

  dear sir,

  I am brialle user. okay!

I did test say color and color id appa as there is osmthing.

close friend said that she listened to voice and said that since my shirt has
multi-colors. so say color and color id only pick one color instead of saying
plaid or something like this. I tried few times again on my shirt and few times
they change different colors.

have you notice anything like this? do they change colors if you move iphone
around.

  sincerely,

  rich
