Hi Mary,

It's been 9 apps I think ever since iOS 7, but I don't know why it's 9 and not,
for example, 12 or 16, one would think a folder could have 4 across like a home
screen and also at least 3 or 4 rows, maybe Apple made it an easy 3 by 3 grid
to make it easier to see all the apps on a page at a glance. Below is a link to
an article which contains a handy table showing how many apps/folders can be on
a home screen on the various devices and how many home pages there can be and
how many pages in a folder. The quick answer is that for the 6S and 6S Plus and
I assume also the 7 and 7 Plus one could have almost 50 thousand apps on a
device if one put only folders everywhere and filled up said folders completely.

Subject: Nine apps per page in a folder on an iPhone 7 Plus, why?

I am probably wrong, but it seemed to me that we used to have 12 A per page in
folders. But I have been trying to move some apps around and noticed that I can
only have nine apps per page in a folder now. Why? Has anyone ever seen a
discussion on this? It seems like there is a lot of space going unused, and
while I know my phone is big, I would think even you could have 12 on an iPhone
SE. There must be a reason. But I sure don't know what it is.
Mary
